CLUB OF THE FUTURE M y Three Sons. Nothing says future more vividly than young men coming up behind their dad to love golf. PD Board of Directors President Darren Barnes is shown here with his son, Tate, 13, who, his proud dad says, is a very good golfer — with a 2.8 handicap — and a fixture at the Club in the summer. “He wakes up,” Barnes says, “eats breakfast, and heads for Prairie Dunes. He caddies from time to time. He doesn’t get a lot of loops, but he had three or four legitimate jobs this past summer.” Golfing is a Barnes family affair. “Most of the hardware in the home is not mine,” Darren says. Mom Erika Barnes is a golfer. The oldest Barnes son, Lincoln, plays, as a sophomore, for the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons men’s golf team. Beckham, a 6th grader at Trinity Catholic, took first place last August in the Boys 13-and-Under division at the 2026 City of Hutchinson Junior Golf Championships at Carey Park Golf Course. You might remember he showed up in the very first Yucca Times magazine in a story about Calloway Kocher because the Barnes have a dog named Callaway. The Yucca Times did not neglect, of course, to ask how our Dunes president — who is also partner-vice president for Bold 3PL in Hutchinson — ever finds time to play golf. You should know he skirted the question with a smiley face emoji. Read into that what you will. 6
