LETTER FROM THE
HEAD GOLF PRO
EXTREME DAYS. MAX EFFORT
As we wind down another golf season, I want to thank the people who go above
and beyond to deliver an exceptional experience: our Professional golf staff that
includes Billy, Justin, Chris, and Johnny; and the Outside Services team that
includes Dan, Ethan, Logan, Lauren, JD and the entire crew of kids. Thank you all
for your hard work.
Mother Nature was tough on the Dunes this year. In my 24 years here at Prairie
Dunes, I don’t recall a more challenging summer of heat interspersed with large
amounts of rain. We had 90 days over 90 degrees and two weeks over 100 in
September. Superintendent Cory Griess and the turf team did an amazing job all
season!

With several days of walking only or carts restricted to the rough, the Caddie
Program stepped up and did a great job. We’ve had 950 loops this year; up from
775 in 2025. Thank you, Ethan, for a great job with the caddies.

The Member-Guest tournaments and Member-Member tournaments were again a
great success with record numbers. Thank you to everyone who participated. Watch
for signup dates in 2027 and remember to act quickly.

Everyone in the golf departments is
excited for the range project scheduled
to begin in late fall 2027. The new range
will allow for more turf and hitting
spaces, target greens to mimic shots on
the golf course, and a safer environment
regardless of weather conditions. Learn
more from PD President Darren Barnes
on page 6 and enjoy looking ahead!
